Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Global Payroll Specialist to lead payroll operations across our locations, including Malta, Gibraltar, Spain, Macedonia, and Croatia. This role requires an individual with a deep understanding of payroll intricacies, taxation laws, and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted partner to both internal teams and external payroll providers, ensuring seamless, accurate, and compliant payroll processing for all employees. You will play a critical role in optimizing payroll operations, driving efficiency, and ensuring adherence to local tax and labour regulations in each country.
In addition to payroll management, this role encompasses oversight of HR administration functions, including contract management, work permits, and health insurance enrolment across our locations.
Responsibilities:
• Manage payroll operations across Malta, Gibraltar, Spain, Macedonia, and Croatia, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• Liaise with external payroll providers to ensure compliance with local taxation, social security, and labour laws.
• Monitor changes in payroll-related regulations to maintain compliance across jurisdictions.
• Identify and implement improvements in payroll processes, including automation and standardization across locations taking into consideration nuances.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to streamline data collection, reporting, and risk management.
• Address employee payroll queries promptly while ensuring data accuracy and adherence to GDPR and local data protection laws.
• Generate payroll reports and analytics for stakeholders and audits.
• Develop and maintain payroll policies, ensuring consistency and compliance across all locations.
• Undertake general HR administration duties, including contract management, benefits administration and employee relations as needed.
• Stay current on payroll and HR regulations, implementing changes as necessary to maintain compliance.
• Support the onboarding and offboarding processes, including induction.
Requirements:
● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field. A professional payroll certification is highly desirable.
● Experience:
○ Proven experience as a payroll professional managing payroll operations across multiple jurisdictions.
○ Extensive knowledge of payroll taxation principles and labour laws.
○ Experience managing and maintaining HRIS and payroll systems.
○ Experience working with external payroll providers and managing vendor relationships.
● Skills:
○ Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
○ Willingness to learn and solve problems independently.
○ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on compliance and process improvement.
○ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and cultures.
○ Proficiency in payroll software and systems, as well as MS Office and other reporting tools.
○ Proficient in HRIS systems preferably BambooHR.
